Getting Started

New to DisciplePair? Start here.

Creating your account

To create your DisciplePair account, visit our signup page and enter your name, email address, and a secure password. You'll receive a verification email—click the link to activate your account. Once verified, you can set up your profile and start your discipleship journey. Signing up is completely free and takes less than 2 minutes.

Setting up your profile

Your profile helps your discipleship partner get to know you better. After signing in, go to Settings > Profile to add a profile photo, update your name, and share a brief bio about your faith journey. A complete profile builds trust and helps church admins match you with compatible partners.

Finding a discipleship partner

There are several ways to find a partner: If your church uses DisciplePair, ask your pastor or discipleship coordinator to match you. You can also invite someone you already know (a mentor, friend, or small group leader) by sending them an email invitation from the Pairs page. Many churches run discipleship cohorts where members are matched based on life stage, experience, and availability.

Starting your first pair

Once you're paired with someone, you'll see them on your Dashboard. Click on the pair to access your shared space where you can choose a curriculum track, send messages, log check-ins, and track progress. We recommend starting with a brief introductory meeting to set expectations, agree on meeting frequency, and pray together before diving into curriculum.

Discipleship Pairs

Managing your discipleship relationships.

How pairs work

A discipleship pair consists of two people: a discipler (mentor) and a disciple (mentee). The discipler guides spiritual conversations and models Christian living, while the disciple learns and grows. Pairs work through curriculum sessions together, meeting regularly in person or via video call. The platform tracks your progress, facilitates communication, and provides accountability through check-ins.

Check-ins explained

Check-ins are quick logs that help you stay accountable. After meeting with your partner, record whether you met, which curriculum session you completed, and rate the meeting quality (1-5 stars). Check-ins take under a minute but provide valuable data—helping you see patterns in your discipleship rhythm and alerting church leaders when pairs might need extra support.

Using the journal feature

The journal is your personal spiritual diary within each pair. Record notes from your sessions, prayer requests, answered prayers, and praise reports. Journal entries are private by default, but you can choose to share specific entries with your partner to deepen your connection. Use the filter options to view only prayer requests, answered prayers, or notes.

Messaging your partner

The in-app messaging feature lets you communicate with your partner between meetings. Send text messages, prayer requests, or words of encouragement. Messages are private between you and your partner—no one else can read them, including church admins. Use messaging to share Scripture, ask questions, pray for each other, or simply check in during the week.

Curriculum

Getting the most from your studies.

Choosing a curriculum track

DisciplePair offers three curriculum tracks: 'First Steps' for new believers learning the basics of faith; 'Rooted in Faith' for believers ready to go deeper in doctrine and spiritual disciplines; and 'Called to Lead' for those preparing to disciple others. When starting a new pair, discuss which track best fits your partner's current spiritual maturity and growth goals.

Session structure overview

Each curriculum session follows a consistent structure: an opening prayer prompt, Scripture reading (typically 1-2 chapters), 4-6 discussion questions to guide your conversation, practical application suggestions, and action steps to practice during the week. Sessions are designed for 45-60 minute meetings but can be adapted to your schedule.

Completing sessions together

During your meeting, open the current session in DisciplePair and work through it together. The discipler typically leads by reading Scripture aloud and asking discussion questions, while both partners share insights and applications. After your meeting, mark the session as complete to track your progress. Some pairs read the Scripture beforehand; others read it together—find what works for you.

Tracking progress

Your pair's curriculum page shows a visual progress indicator displaying how many sessions you've completed out of the total. You'll also see your current session, last meeting date, and overall pair health metrics. Church admins have access to aggregate progress data to celebrate milestones and identify pairs that may be stalling.

For Churches

Church admin features and setup.

Setting up your church account

To set up DisciplePair for your church, sign up with a church email and select 'Church' account type. You'll create your church profile with name, website, and logo. Choose a subscription plan (all plans include a 14-day free trial). Then configure your settings: decide whether members can self-register or need invitations, customize notifications, and set up any custom branding if your plan includes it.

Inviting members

Invite members to join your church on DisciplePair from the Church Admin > Members page. Enter email addresses individually or upload a CSV for bulk invitations. Members receive an email with a link to create their account and join your church. You can resend invitations and track who has accepted. Members must accept an invitation before they can be added to discipleship pairs.

Creating and managing pairs

Church admins create discipleship pairs from the Pairs page. Select a discipler (mentor) and disciple (mentee) from your member list, assign a curriculum track, and the pair is created. Both members receive notifications. You can view all active pairs, see their progress, and identify pairs that may need encouragement. If needed, you can reassign members or archive completed pairs.

Viewing reports and analytics

The Reports dashboard (available on church plans) provides insights into your discipleship ministry. View aggregate metrics including: total active pairs, average check-in frequency, curriculum completion rates, and pair health scores. Identify thriving pairs to celebrate and struggling pairs to support. Export data for board reports or ministry reviews. Reports help you measure discipleship outcomes beyond just attendance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about DisciplePair.

What is DisciplePair?

DisciplePair is a digital platform designed to facilitate meaningful one-on-one discipleship relationships for Christians and churches. We provide comprehensive tools including partner matching, guided Scripture-based curriculum, progress tracking, check-ins, in-app messaging, and prayer journaling—everything you need to nurture spiritual growth through intentional mentoring relationships.

Is DisciplePair free to use?

Yes! Individuals can use DisciplePair completely free with 1 active discipleship pair. This includes access to all curriculum tracks, messaging, journaling, and check-in features. Churches can start with a 14-day free trial of any plan. Paid plans unlock more concurrent pairs, advanced analytics, custom branding, and priority support.

How do I find a discipleship partner?

There are several ways to connect with a discipleship partner: If your church uses DisciplePair, your church admin can match you with an experienced mentor or mentee. As an individual, you can invite someone you know (a friend, small group member, or church leader) by entering their email address. You can also ask your local church about joining their discipleship program through DisciplePair.

What curriculum tracks are available?

DisciplePair offers three Scripture-based curriculum tracks tailored to different stages of faith: 'First Steps' is designed for new believers covering foundational truths like salvation, prayer, and Bible reading. 'Rooted in Faith' helps growing believers deepen their understanding of doctrine, spiritual disciplines, and Christian living. 'Called to Lead' equips emerging leaders with skills in mentoring, teaching, and servant leadership. Each track includes sessions with Scripture readings, discussion questions, and practical action steps.

Can I use DisciplePair for my small group?

DisciplePair is specifically designed for one-on-one discipleship relationships rather than small group settings. This focused approach enables deeper personal conversations, stronger accountability, and more individualized spiritual mentoring. However, many churches successfully use DisciplePair alongside their small group ministry—the group provides community while DisciplePair enables deeper individual mentoring.

How do check-ins work?

Check-ins are simple accountability logs that help you track your discipleship progress. Both members of a pair can record whether they met, what curriculum session they completed, and rate the quality of their meeting. Check-ins take less than a minute to complete and help maintain consistency—whether you meet weekly, biweekly, or on your own schedule. Church admins can view aggregate check-in data to identify pairs that may need encouragement or support.

Is my data private and secure?

Absolutely. We take your privacy seriously. Personal journal entries are completely private unless you explicitly choose to share them with your partner. Messages between you and your partner are encrypted and only visible to the two of you. Church admins can see participation metrics (like check-in frequency) but cannot read the content of your messages, journal entries, or prayer requests. We never sell your data to third parties.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time directly from your account settings page. Simply navigate to Settings > Billing and click 'Manage Subscription.' After canceling, you'll continue to have full access to all paid features until the end of your current billing period. Your data remains accessible even after downgrading to the free plan.

What's the difference between a discipler and a disciple?

In DisciplePair, the 'discipler' (or mentor) is the more spiritually mature person who guides, teaches, and encourages. The 'disciple' (or mentee) is the person being mentored who is learning and growing. Both roles are valuable and often people serve as both a discipler to one person while being discipled by another—this is how healthy discipleship multiplies through the church.

Can I be in multiple discipleship pairs at once?

Yes! Depending on your plan, you can be part of multiple active pairs simultaneously. The free individual plan includes 1 active pair. The Personal plan ($12/month) allows up to 5 active pairs—perfect for someone who disciples several people or has both a mentor and mentees. Church plans support 25 to 500+ pairs depending on the tier.

Does DisciplePair work on mobile devices?

Yes, DisciplePair is fully responsive and works beautifully on smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. You can log check-ins, send messages, and read curriculum from any device with a web browser. We recommend using Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge for the best experience. A native mobile app is on our roadmap for future development.

How do I get my church started with DisciplePair?

Getting your church set up is simple: First, sign up for a church account and complete the 14-day free trial. During setup, you'll add your church name, customize settings, and invite your discipleship coordinator or pastor to help manage pairs. Then invite members by email and start creating discipleship pairs. Our church plans include onboarding support to help you launch successfully.

What if I have a problem or need help?

We're here to help! You can browse this Help Center for instant answers, or contact our support team directly through the Contact page. Paid plans include priority email support with faster response times. We also publish helpful tips and best practices on our blog to help you get the most out of DisciplePair.

Can I switch curriculum tracks mid-way?

Yes, you can change your curriculum track at any time from the pair's curriculum page. Your progress in the previous track will be saved if you ever want to return to it. We recommend completing a track before switching, but we understand that sometimes a different track may be more appropriate for where your partner is in their spiritual journey.
